How PELAV PDF Scanner processes your documents

PELAV PDF Scanner is designed to work as a local, on-device document scanning tool. In this version of the app (V1), Continuum does not operate a cloud backend or server for PELAV PDF Scanner, and the app does not automatically upload or synchronise your scanned documents to any Continuum-controlled cloud storage.

When you scan a document, the app captures source images and generates a PDF file, which is stored in the app's own private application storage on your device — not in shared or public storage accessible to other apps. Intermediate scanner images used to produce the PDF are cleaned up automatically once the PDF has been generated successfully. If PDF generation fails for any reason, the source images are deliberately not deleted, so that your only copy of the captured document is not lost.

Sharing your documents

PELAV PDF Scanner does not share, transmit or upload your generated PDF files anywhere on its own. Document sharing only happens when you explicitly choose to share a file using Android's built-in system sharing mechanism (for example, to send a PDF to another app, contact, or service of your choosing). What happens to a document after you share it is governed by the privacy practices of the app or service you chose to share it with.

Google ML Kit Document Scanner and Google Play services

PELAV PDF Scanner uses Google's ML Kit Document Scanner through Google Play services. Google's documentation states that the Document Scanner models, scanning logic and user interface are dynamically downloaded by Google Play services. PELAV itself does not operate a backend server or upload scanned documents to PELAV-controlled cloud storage.

Google Play services and Google services may communicate with Google infrastructure for their own operation, including downloading or updating the scanner components. Such processing is governed by Google's own terms and privacy practices — see Google's Privacy Policyfor more information.

Accounts, analytics and advertising

PELAV PDF Scanner does not require or offer user accounts, registration or login in this version of the app. Continuum does not implement its own analytics or advertising services within PELAV PDF Scanner, and does not use the app to collect information for marketing purposes.

Data retention and deletion

Generated PDF files remain in the app's private storage until they are removed by the operating system's app-data lifecycle, or until you uninstall the app or clear its app data — either of which removes the app's private storage, including generated PDFs. This version of the app does not currently provide an in-app document library or delete function for managing previously generated PDFs.

Your rights

Continuum Dataguard Technologies is based in South Africa. Where applicable, South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) gives individuals rights in relation to their personal information, including the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information held about them, and the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator. If you are located in another jurisdiction, you may have additional rights under applicable local privacy and data-protection laws.

Children's privacy

PELAV PDF Scanner is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes to PELAV PDF Scanner or applicable law. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
